DaDaFest’s Artistic Director, Ruth Gould MBE, visited Palestine the opening of a new exhibition “Arts and Disability: Challenges and Successes” organised by the British Council.
Produced in partnership with a number of Palestinian partner organisations, the two day programme consisted of an exhibition of work that represents an accumulation of art by disabled and non-disabled Palestinians, mentored by British disabled artist and DaDaFest-regular Rachel Gadsden.

An open meeting for disabled and Deaf young people. We are looking for creative minds and future leaders to work with DaDaFest to make decisions and organise our Young DaDaFest events and DaDaFest International festivals.
We’re looking for young people aged 14-30 years old who are disabled, pharmacy deaf or living with a long term illness or condition to join our Young people’s Leadership group.
You will work with the DaDaFest team and other arts professionals to develop ideas for our programme, more about projects and events. This is a great opportunity if you want to represent the voices of young disabled people in Merseyside and the wider North West region. You will get to build your leadership, project management and programming skills and work with other young people from Merseyside.
This open meeting will allow you to find out more about DaDaFest and the work we do and the role of the Young Leaders. Support to travel to the meetings and access can be provided where required.

DaDaFest is delighted to announce the full programme of events for its thirteenth festival, about it “Skin:Deep”, taking place from 17 November to 3 December 2016. This year’s festival will present an array of outrageous, diverse and radical disability and Deaf arts that will challenge public perceptions of disability, ignite debate and celebrate disability culture.
DaDaFest are looking to appoint a Young Peoples Project Coordinator for its DaDaFest Rookies and Young DaDaFest projects, clinic for a three year fixed term post. The post holder will need to demonstrate experience of working with young people ideally in an arts setting and be willing to work alongside the young people to motivate and develop their skills.
The role will involve coordinating activities for the DaDaFest Rookies project and supporting delivery of the Young DaDaFest project. This will include administration and logistics tasks, arranging access and travel support for participants, evaluation and monitoring for the project and supervision of staff, support workers and volunteers. The post holder will be the main point of contact for young people and all partners involved in the project.
Position Details
Dates: Full Time (35 hours per week) This position will require regular evening work. It is a requirement that all DaDaFest staff work in a flexible manner compatible with the nature of a festival and arts producing company. To support this we work within flexi-time and TOIL (Time off in Lieu).
Salary: £19,048 per annum, plus pension contribution

The DaDaFest Rookies project and this position are funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund:
COoL member DaDaFest has received a grant of over £275, 000 from Big Lottery Fund to be used for a new project called “DaDaFest Rookies”.
The project aims to increase employability within the creative sector for young disabled people through training, order mentoring and placements within arts organisations.
The funding from Big Lottery will allow us to support young people to develop their skills as artists and producers and enable them to pursue careers in the creative sector. The project will be led by young people via our leadership groups and local schools will be able to input their thoughts via quarterly forum meetings. Over a three year period, we will offer mentoring to young people, which will involve taking part in sessions led by highly experienced professionals. We will also offer flexible placements for young producers within our own office as well as with partner organisations.
DaDaFest Rookies builds on our successful Young DaDaFest programme, which has seen over 2,500 young people participate in a wide variety of different events and projects. This includes being part of our biennial international disability arts festival as well as leading on the development of our annual young people’s events. We have supported several young people who have already made steps into professional careers in the arts. DaDaFest Rookies will allow us to support an increased number of young people to kickstart their arts careers.
